Aims The Chaplaincy is there to support all students and staff and promote Jewish life at the University of Surrey. The chaplaincy activities extend to both the Guildford School of Acting (Conservatoire) and the College of Law. The Chaplain is there to offer help and advice. Please feel free to call me or arrange a time to come and see me at the Chaplaincy Centre. Activities The Chaplaincy runs the Jewish Renewal Seminars that take place at the University. The Chaplain is usually to be found in Bourne Flat, Surrey Court between 10.00 and 14.00 on Fridays where his door is open for all students and staff. The Chaplaincy supports the Jewish Society in co-hosting some of their Festive and Shabbat dinners. The Chaplain aims to ensure home hospitality to all students who require it. There are a number of families in the city who have offered to host students. There are a number of families who are Hebrew, Russian, French and German speakers within the town. The Chaplaincy promotes inter-faith and inter-communal relations. It has been involved in supporting the UNIS Multifaith Chaplaincy, Guildford Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration and a Surrey University study visit to Auschwitz. Relationship with Surrey Communities The Chaplaincy is not part of Guildford Synagogue but has a close relationship with all Jewish communities and denominations in the area. |
